~Stuff the Bus- Bring a Perishable food item 

Stuff The Bus is our annual event to help families and individuals in our local communities, who are experiencing financial and emotional hardship. 

The heart of Stuff the Bus is to place dignity on parents by resourcing them with perishable food items.  

Thank you for your generosity and continued support in carrying the Spirit of Giving!  

*The class with the most items collected will receive a pizza party!  Deadline for St. Matts Stuff the bus is October 23rd.  

~CWAJHAA Cross Country Run Tuesday!

~Students wanting to join Student Council will meet in Mrs. Hughes class at lunch recess on Wednesday, October 18th.   A great way to plan and organize different events throughout the year.

*Butt Ugly Presentation at Pioneer School for Grade 6 students.  Starting at 10:45 a.m.  Butt Ugly discusses youth social issues with one-on-one peer mentoring to address the issues of tobacco use. Their goal is to prevent youth tobacco use through peer education, role modeling, and support.

*Grade 4 Skating 1:30 p.m.

Grade 4 Bible Celebration, October 4th.  Grade 4 students will bus to St. Mary's church and receive bibles on this special day.  

Grade 2 classes begin skating on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Grade 4 classes skate on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.   Parents wanting to volunteer must have a Criminal Record Check, registration and confidentiality papers on file at the office.  Call 403-845-2836 for more information.

This week's events are as follows:

Thursday, September 28th is the Terry Fox run.  Students will bike, run or walk Thursday starting at 1:30 p.m.  Please get your pledge forms in ASAP. 

We are also kicking off our HATS FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS on Thursday.  Students will be able to wear their hats all day for a toonie donation.  

This year Orange Shirt Day falls on a Saturday.  St. Matthew will recognize this legacy on Thursday, Sept. 28th.  Orange shirt day grew out of Phyllis’ story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.  You can read more about this event at www.orangeshirtday.org

Dawe Run: Tuesday, September 19th for grades 4,5,6,7 and 8.  Students bus out at 9:00 a.m. and return to the school at 3:15 p.m.  Things to bring: A healthy bagged lunch, extra snacks, lots of water, appropriate running attire (shoes, shorts, t-shirts, sweater), bug spray, and sunscreen.

Grade 6 Orientation:

Welcoming Mass:

Our first Mass of the 2017-2018 school year will be Thursday, September 21 at 10:45 a.m. in the school gymnasium.  All Are Welcome, All Belong.

Pledge forms have been sent home for the Terry Fox Run.  Fundraising total to date is $204,286.98 since we started the run in 1992........25 years.   That's incredible!!!  Let's keep that momentum going!

First Day of School!  September 5th, first bell at 8:46 a.m.  Supervision starts at 8:30 a.m. Mon-Fri.

 Meet the staff and beef on a bun dinner.   You are welcome to our annual meet the staff dinner, September 6th, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  During this time you can visit your child's teacher, EA's and office staff and enjoy a beef on a bun dinner.

Sewing machines needed:  We are still in need of a couple gently used sewing machines donations. If you'd like to donate please stop by the school or call 403-845-2836
